Backyard pool in Lenox, MA for a new home. The pool is set about 36” above the elevation of the rear yard due to existing site conditions. A stone wall retains the grade and the pool fence is along the top of the wall. Architectural block pavers surround the pool. All built per master plan by OL Ltd. Collaboration with Jim Harwood Architect. Home builder is Chris May.
It always fun to see our master plans and garden designs mature. This image is of a garden in Richmond, MA called “Scissor Garden” which was built in 2017. Since then our clients have had two grandchildren arrive and here is one of them scrambling up the steps to the pool and pool house from July 2019.
Backyard swimming pool and pool house that we designed for clients in Great Barrington, MA that was part of their overall master plan. About 50% of the site work falls within a buffer zone of an intermittent stream, so a permit was required from the local Conservation Commission. Stamped concrete pathway from lower level of house to pool. Dwarf ornamental grasses ‘Hamln’ line the pathway along with low voltage pathlights. Outdoor furniture by Barrington Outfitters. Pool by Aqua Pools & Patio. Underground utility infrastructure and pool house construction by Allegrone Construction.

We wrote an article for The Berkshire Edge about the design process and construction of this garden.
Also there are two short videos about this property and garden on our web page.

Farm Construction

Scissor Steps

November is predictable for the hard frosts and the leaves have fallen from most of our deciduous trees. The structural beauty of our trees is now in view. I like to consider the bark structure and texture of trees we use in our landscape design. Start to study these for your landscape. What is un-predictable is what weather we will have starting at Thanksgiving Day weekend. I have experienced ice storms and snow on that weekend and being the start of winter. This shuts down all outdoor construction. Have also experienced sunny, mild temperatures for the whole month of November and December. One year we laid sod along a new swimming pool the first week in January! Enjoy your Thanksgiving with family and friends.
