Services completed included recommendations for repairing or replacing the original bluestone terrace that was in poor condition. Owner, who is a Recycling Engineer & Welder from NYC, designed the concrete water wier, created and welded the Corten steel pergola, Corten steel wier outfall. He has interests in Asian design and applies his interpretations wherever possible for the property. Limestone boulders in courtyard are from the property. They were placed in a traditional Japanese “asymmetric balanced group” using a system of scalene triangles. Took one day to place these 5 stones! OL Ltd selected plant materials at local Nurseries with Owner and installed as design-build.
2012 Master Plan for 18-acre property with overall goal to restore it as “Linden Brook Farm”, its original name from the mid-1800’s. All new construction designed around a central “Green” created by relocating the main entrance driveway and removing numerous small out buildings and existing liner pool. Total transformation of house backyard space per Master Plan by Okerstrom Lang Ltd. Clients wanted a large, outdoor entertainment space that connected to the existing swimming. The existing house is sited to face west with dramatic views of the distant Catskill Mountains. Our clients asked for differant outdoor spaces to be created by adding new decks to connect the hot tub and new screen porch. Custom ashlar stone pattern we call “The Rockwell Pattern” which uses larger sizes of stone pavers with intricate “keys” within the pattern. The granite is named “Chester Granite” a local-native stone quarried here in the Berkshires.

Master Plan for new modern second home on 80 acres in Columbia County, NY for a family of 5 with many friends… Focus was on the immediate house and how to insert a large-family pool near the house with a southern exposure. Extensive grading required to create a level landing for the pool and a 60′ x 120′ play lawn next to the pool. A 12′ cut in grade was required. This is our design for the new main entrance to the Norman Rockwell Museum. The main entrance is about 25 years old, which faces north has seen some fierce winters. As a result it has deteriorated rapidly due mostly to extensive salt damage. We were commissioned to design this new terrace since our firm designed and installed a similar terrace at The Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield. That terrace system has been operating for 16 years.
