The Norman Rockwell Museum project

The Norman Rockwell Museum project was finished the week of June 12th with final tasks completed including: Final subbase for the HC access route Walkway asphalt subbase installation Final walkway asphalt surfaces installation Museum exterior minor repairs and painting Sodding most disturbed areas Reset directional signage All construction by Broadwell Construction LLC, Patrick Keating, Project Manager with their subcontractors: Adams Trucking Paving subbase, final grading, sod installation Comalli Electric W.E. Williams Paving Inc Bill Williams, Owner NRM site crew – Mark Carey and Ed Ziarnik, assisted with the sod installation and its watering.

Our firm recently completed a master plan for our clients property in Columbia County which planned out a series of site and landscape projects surrounding their new contemporary home on an very open site. Norman Rockwell Museum Pavers Installed

Design: Okerstrom Lang Landscape Architects LTD. Pavers installed by Mancini Pool Decks Inc. Granite fabricated by Williams Stone, Blandford, MA. Custom ashlar stone pattern we call “The Rockwell Pattern”  which uses larger sizes of stone pavers with intricate “keys” within the pattern. The granite is named “Chester Granite” a local-native stone quarried here in the Berkshires.

Master Plan for New Modern Second Home

Master Plan for new modern second home on 80 acres in Columbia County, NY for a family of 5 with many friends… Focus was on the immediate house and how to insert a large-family pool near the house with a southern exposure. Extensive grading required to create a level landing for the pool and a 60′ x 120′ play lawn next to the pool.  A 12′ cut in grade was required.  Excess material was used on site to create a new upper sports field and soften the slope of the septic field. Norman Rockwell Museum Entrance

This is our design for the new main entrance to the Norman Rockwell Museum. The main entrance is about 25 years old, which faces north has seen some fierce winters. As a result it has deteriorated rapidly due mostly to extensive salt damage. We were commissioned to design this new terrace since our firm designed and installed a similar terrace at The Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield. That terrace system has been operating for 16 years.
